What we do

The Reborn to Life Initiative is dedicated to providing life-changing, patient-specific implants (PSIs) to injured combatants and civilians in Ukraine.

Since the beginning of russia's full-scale invasion into Ukraine, the number of war victims is inevitably increasing.       Many injured combatants and civilians require medical care, including surgeries and bone reconstructions. In most cases a standard set of implants for internal bone fixation can be used. However, in some cases, routine solutions cannot be applied efficiently because of the clinical complexity and other conditions.

The solution for such patients is a patient-specific implant (PSI) - medical devices that are custom-made for a certain patient's anatomy and are designed to fit and function optimally in that individual's body. These internal medical devices are used to improve a patient’s outcomes by providing better fit, function, and durability, as well as reduce surgery time and potential complications which leads to the improvement of the total quality of medical care. In some cases, PSI can help to save a limb from amputation or keep the natural look of the face, by using it for bone fixation or bone defect replacement.       It is a relatively new approach, which was adopted approximately 15 years ago. There are a number of surgeons who can already perform such high-tech surgeries in Ukrainian public hospitals. These implantations are performed for free and are an alternative for medical care abroad, which is extremely expensive.

On March 29, 2023, Reborn to Life held a charity event at Design Museum Dedel in the Hague in support of people who suffered serious injuries as a result of military operations in Ukraine. The event took place in a warm friendly atmosphere. The exhibition of Ukrainian military posters, held in the museum, contributed to it as well.
